Dependency Theory

1) Majority of the time I use the media to socialise with family and friends, but in particular to keep updated with growing trends and gossip- particularly to do with celebrities. Personally, I am quite a fashion freak so I will look up outfits currently trending or coming into fashion, just to keep up with the fashion world although a majority of the time I freestyle my outfits- but the media has helped build my knowledge on it through searching on the internet. The TV is quite helpful for weather forecasts, or the weather app.

2) To quite a large extent in my opinion, I believe with the coming generations they are so involved and active with what goes on with the world in comparison to when I was younger, but this can b due to advancing technology too. Although institutions such as Disney set role models for youngster from their childhood years which can perhaps implement how they intend to become later on, depending on how the celerities turn out. Miley Cyrus is a good example of a stereotypical good role model gone wrong, and this approach can really transform a child's growing ages. Aside of this I still believe every day people in this day and age can not go a day without having used the media in some sort of way, whether that be to research books, watch celebrity interviews, celebs gossip or even just watch breaking news on TV. Its essentially weaved its way into becoming a part of everything we do every day.Obsessed fans and passionate work people may feel certain types of ways depending on what news can be revealed on certain media platforms- tour dates released, tax increase, it can range from a number of things.

3)  Back in the olden days we used our own brains a lot I reckon, although yes it does take a lot to improve and better our technology today- still we can argue that our media consumers and producers depend too much on the media. What is the meaning of books if there's Kindles? What is the purpose of newspapers if there are on-line articles? With advancing technology I reckon we become even more dependent on the media in terms of whereas 10 years ago we weren't so aware with the world, but we are all very well connected now too.

4) The fact that people would feel 'lost' implies that the internet has become a part of our lives and although it doesn't sound healthy- its true. Especially to see that young people claim they would feel lost suggests not that coming generations are abducted- but essentially that the media is only going to improve from now on. Although reading the article its not something to be proud of because there is so much people can be doing to broaden their horizons and reach after their passions instead of diving into this divergent world of celebrities perhaps if you're a normal working person. As much as I despise this fact, I cant help but admit to it because we are all guilty of being dependent on the media.
