Textual Analysis

Groups: All White, three males, one female and they were mainly all upper/working class.

Dominant/Alternative representation: White males are presented as dominant and of upper class, this is what we usually see on TV with the presenters primarily being white. Female is alternative as we usually see women being objectified but in this situation both male and females are treated with respect. The representation of people of high value is dominant on TV as we are only ever to see the public on game shows but never on talk shows.

Groups: All white, white female, white male, range of ethnic groups, royalty, children, prestigious, upper class.

Dominant/Alternative representations: White men were dominant in the sense that the royal family is British therefore everyone inside is said to be of white ethnicity. White females are also dominant as we associate them to be Queens. Royalty is dominant as we associate the wealth and golden frames and walls with this. Upper class is dominant as everyone working in there is paid very well. Children as alternative as we don't associate them to fit in with the upper class.

Dominant/Alternative representations: This whole programme is alternative at is is rare that we make females the subject of the whole story. The females are presented as dominant as it shows the gossip type girls in the trailer and how they try to find out everything they can. White females are shown in both representations as some care about their appearance and some don't. Black male is shown as alternative because he holds the door for the girl but the media would tell us to associate black males with violence and careless which goes anti-stereotype. The teenagers are presented in both dominant and alternative as some people behave like this in the real world and some don't but this trailer seems to focus on the negative side.
